A couple of months ago, Consumer Reports put the Toyota Prius on its Top 10 list of least reliable cars right now, but that has to do with the infotainment and air conditioning. Overall this is still the daddy of hybrids, and it gets the respect it deserves over in Japan.
Liberty Walk recently published their body kit for the Prius 50, as they call it over there, but we took one look at this and said: "we can find something even cooler." We did; this is the Aimgain body kit, or body kits, as there are slight variations in the grille.
The tuner in question is called Aimgain, and while you may not have heard of them, these Japanese artisans have their craft figured out. Just check out what they can do to your Mazda MX-5, for example.
In the case of the Prius 50, the so-called Type F body kit replicates the look of the Lexus F Sport body kits. This means you get mesh not only inside the main spindle grille but also the side ones. The front bumper looks just like the one for the CT 200h, though we doubt a face-swap was possible.
The hybrid sedan gets a full ground effects treatment, with a chin spoiler, new side skirts, and a rear diffuser With white paint and black accents, the Star Wars stormtrooper looks is pulled off perfectly. And while air ride suspension and Ferrari-like wheels may not be to everyone's liking, this is a demo car. It's up to you to decide how far you want to take things.
The goodies available with this package include two rear spoilers, one for the trunk and the other for the top of the glass, a sports exhaust system and mirror covers. Even the interior has been customized, with custom carpets and badges.
For a slightly more subtle look, you can have the Type L kit, which looks like a normal Lexus model. But whichever package you want, it will cost you at least 270,000 yen, or $2,500 plus shipping and installation.
