Toyota Prius Sales Passing 3 Million Mark

The year was 1997. Toyota launched the world’s first mass-production petrol-electric hybrid passenger car, the Prius, and everybody laughed at it and never gave it a chance.

Now, after three generations and lots of enhancements both in comfort and performance, Toyota Motor Company is proud to announce that its contribution to a cleaner world has reached over 3 million units sold world wide.

The current Prius range offers four distinctive models: the standard Prius we all know, the Prius v MPV, the compact city hatch Prius c and the Plug-in hybrid Prius to fulfill every client’s requirements for a high mileage comfortable day-to-day vehicle.

Since the development of the first generation Prius, Toyota has positioned the hybrid technology as a core standard for future developing of various types of green vehicles and it will continue to invest in this kind of technology in order to further consolidate its position in this market sector.
