Toyota is joining forces with the Berlin Police to introduce a fleet of green patrol cars on the streets of the German city. The carmaker offers a first lot of three Prius units to the police, as part of a program calls “Initiative 120”. which aims to reduce the police force’s carbon footprint.
The first step of the program will see the Berlin Police use 11 eco-focused vehicles, also including the Opel Ampera, Renault Fluence sedan Z.E. and Kangoo Van Z.E., as well as the Mitsubishi i-MiEV. The Berlin Police aims to introduce multiple green vehicles to its vehicle pool in the future, with these required to have CO2 emissions of under 120 grams per km.

While the road to eco-friendliness is paved with good intentions, we're really curious to see how a Prius patrol car handles a pursuit situation. Just saying...
