Australia is normally associated with utes and huge V8 sedans, but they do actually have cities over there, and those cities have cafes, museums and mall, just like on the other side of the globe. Jokes aside, this market has begun to really have a use for the subcompact car lately, and Toyota wants to get some attention with their brand new hybrid hatch, the Prius C, which is already proving a big hit in Japan.
And the Prius C will be launched in Australia early this year, and will soon become the cheapest hybrid there. However, Toyota might have a tough time keeping up with demand, since in Japan where the car is built, a total of 120,000 orders have already been placed for the no-gimmicks hybrid. This might mean waiting lists of up to eight months if production isn’t shifted elsewhere.

We’ll remind you that is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 74 hp, and mated to a 45 kW electric motor. Combined output is exactly 100 hp, which is enough to push it to 100 km/h (62mph) in 10.7 seconds in combination with its CVT gearbox.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
