Toyota Posts Increased December and 2013 Sales

Toyota Motor Sales USA reported its sales results for December and for the year that just concluded.
The automaker reported December 2013 sales of 190,843 units, representing a 2.2 percent increase over the same period in 2012 on a daily selling rate basis. On a raw-volume basis, unadjusted for 25 selling days in December 2013 compared to 26 selling days in December 2012, TMS sales decreased with 1.7 percent.

Excluding the Lexus luxury brand, Toyota alone sold 156,086 units in December 2013, a 0.7 percent decrease over from same time in 2012 on a DSR basis. Volume-wise, sales decreased with 4.6% over December 2012.

Moving on to the overall sales, with the same number of selling days in 2013 and 2012, Toyota reported annual sales of 2,236,042 vehicles, a 7.4 percent increase over last year on both a raw-volume basis and DSR.

Model-wise, the Toyota Camry ended 2013 as best-selling car in the US for the 12th year in a row, while the automaker's hybrids set an all-time sales record, retaining about 60 percent of the market. The Avalon went up more than 20% in December, the all-new Corolla records monthly sales of 22,500 units, the Prius registers 15,720 units sold while the RAV4 went up 46%making for a best-ever December.
