Apart from the iconic Prius Liftback, Toyota is also offering two more derivates to satisfy a wider range of customers – the Prius c compact and the Prius v MPV. Now how about if we had a small SUV?
Toyota is planning to further increase the offer and make a hybrid compact SUV which may probably be based on the Prius in the near future.
Speaking with Motoring, Toyota Motor Corporation deputy chief officer Satoshi Ogiso said that “the small SUV type is very popular recently so Toyota may study this kind of model.”
However, Ogiso said that the company is careful about expanding the Prius range and only a compact SUV may wear the same name before the nameplate gets inappropriate.
“It’s not appropriate to add the Prius name for the bigger sized SUV. But for smaller compact SUV there is some possibility. But we have to think that very carefully,” added Ogiso.
