PSA Peugeot Citroën and Toyota Motor Corporation today announced that their joint-venture that produces vehicles in in Kolín, Czech Republic, Toyota Peugeot Citroën Automobile (TPCA) has reached the 2,000,000 units production landmark, with the company holding a ceremony today to celebrate this.
TPCA was born in March 2002 and began bringing vehicles to the world in February 2005, with the plan producing the Peugeot 107, the Citroën C1 and the Toyota AYGO. The plant prides with the fact that it took only seven years and one month to achive the aforementioned production milestone.
The celebration ceremony was attended by Kolín City Mayor Vit Rakusan, CzechInvest Director for Investments Radek Šoltys, TPCA President Satoshi Tachihara and TPCA Executive Vice President Patrice Le Guyader. As for the No. 2 Million car, this is a Peugeot 107, which was offered to Rakusan “as an expression of TPCA’s gratitude to the Czech community for its significant support.”
