Toyota Motor Sales USA reported April 2014 sales results of 199,660 units, representing an increase of 9 percent over the same month in 2013 on a daily selling rate. On a raw-volume basis, unadjusted for 26 days in April 2014 versus 25 days in April 2013, Toyota sales increased by 13.3 percent from last year’s month.

Toyota division alone posted April 2014 sales of 176,495 units, making for a 7.4 percent year-over-year increase on a daily selling rate basis. Regarding sheer numbers, Toyota sold 11,7 percent more over April 2013.

“Sales momentum from March rolled into April pushing the industry to its best back-to-back monthly sales pace since fall of 2007,” said Bill Fay, Toyota division group vice president and general manager. “For Toyota, truck sales continue to soar. Tundra is a highlight with double-digit gains as comfort, safety and technology of the all-new model remain a strong draw for consumers.”

As always, the Toyota Camry makes for the best seller, last month being 20 percent up with sales of 38,000 units. Next comes the all-new Corolla with 20 percent more units sold at around 20,000.

The new RAV4 leads in truck/SUV sales with sales of 19,000 units and makes for the best-ever April. Being the last production year, FJ Cruiser sales exploded going up 508 percent. It seems huge, but in fact 1,593 retro-styled SUVs were sold.
