Toyota driver Matt Kenseth scored his fifth victory Friday night at he Irwin Tools Night Race for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Bristol.
The race was pretty tough, with the yellow flag waved 11 times for a total of 74 caution laps and a seven-car wreck with only 54 laps to go.
Matt Kenseth led for 149 laps, but prior to his lengthy stint up front, Carl Edwards was dominating the race. However, due to engine problems, he had to end the race prematurely, leaving Matt in his No.20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota to battle for the first place.
The final battle went between Matt and Kahne, who made a last pit stop on lap 441 during a yellow flag and was able to make its way up quickly to the second place by lap 480 due to his fresh tires.
The last laps were intense, with Kahne managing to pull up beside Kenseth several times. Despite his newer tires however, he couldn’t fully get past Matt, who managed to cross the finish line first and score hist fifth win of the season.
