Replicas are usually a very bad idea, and only ones which are made by skilled craftsmen tend to be appreciated, as they come very close to whatever automobile they were trying to replicate. However, there are some attempts which are so poor in their conception and execution, that you wouldn`t really want to hear the word ‘replica’ ever again!
This Toyota MR2 has been given a Ferrari-ish look - you can only tell they wanted to go with a Ferrari look by the typical red paint and the badging. Now, while ‘British-built’ cars, even kit cars, are a source of pride for the entire country, this horrible attempt should crushed immediately, otherwise more people will see it and think ‘Hey, that’s not a 355’, or something much worse.
The failed attempt at making a 355 started off as a 1992 Toyota MR2 Mk.2, and instead of getting the original car back to peak condition, the owner has probably used even more money than he would have, in order to ‘modify’ it. Do not attempt to do something like this, ever, and if you do want to build a replica, try and do it professionally, just to get the body proportions right, because with cars like these, you aren’t fooling anybody.
It is currently for sale, priced at £2,000 ($3,200 / €2,500), but we doubt anybody will want it.
