As announced last week, Toyota launched the customer order platform for the Toyota Mirai fuel cell EV, which means future clients can start filling out the form and wait for Toyota's approval.
Remember, only those living in California will be able to get the Mirai, but we'll stop here from twisting the knife even further.

You also might remember that Toyota decided to give the Mirai a limited production run (3,000 units through 2017), which means their standards for approving customer orders are likely to be pretty high.

After placing a request, potential Mirai drivers will be contacted directly by a Toyota representative to discuss ownership and next steps if the carmaker considers they are fit to own a Mirai.

Even so, clients will have to wait for their car around three months because the Mirai will reach dealerships in October. Also, it's not wearing as small price tag by any means: Toyota set a $57,500 MSRP sticker for the fuel cell EV, without including the $835 destination fee.

However, the 2016 Toyota Mirai will also offer some benefits to those lucky enough to own one.

For example, drivers will be provided with three years’ worth of complimentary fuel (or $15,000 maximum, whichever comes first), complimentary Safety Connect and Entune, including hydrogen station finder app, and free scheduled maintenance for three years, or 35,000 miles, whichever comes first.

A batch of cars has already been shipped to the US, but you also need to know Toyota Mirai has an EPA-estimated driving range rating of 312 miles (502 km) on a single fill of hydrogen.
