Usually, an average school run won’t be longer than three or four miles and depending on the traffic, you can drop off your child in about 20 minutes at the facility. Well, not for this dad, who chose the longest way around to get his son to college.
This UK dad, known by the name of Graham Durgan, aims to cover about 12,000 miles (19,300 km) in a 2002 Toyota Lnd Cruiser from Littlewick Green in Berkshire all the way to McGill University in Montreal, Canada, where his son Ed will start studying political science in September.
Looking to be the world’s longest school run ever, the trip will take the two across northern Europe and Scandinavia, Russia, Kazahstan, Mongolia and China before boarding their Toyota on a cargo ship to cross the pond to reach America.
The epic journey will take place in their 100-series Land Cruiser, which they chose for its legendary reliability, as neither of the two men have any mechanical experience.
