Recent surveys from the Intellectual Property Owners Association shows that Toyota Motor Corp designers and engineers were issued more patents than any other automaker.
The United States Patent and Trademark Office issued 1,491 patents last year, representing a 30 percent increase from 2011. The recall crisis from 2009 - 2010 determined company’s president Akio Toyoda to encourage a return to the company’s focus on quality vehicles rather than sales expansion.

Helped by recently named CEO of Toyota North America Jim Lentz, the automaker is back in shape, toping sales in the region.
