The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders recently said that 2013 was the strongest year for the United Kingdom car market since the recession started in 2007.
Contributing to the rise was Toyota, with its plant in Burnaston, that managed to sell 88,648 new vehicles last year, 4,085 more than in 2012.

It is estimated that the plant manufactured around 180,000 Avensis and Auris units last year. This gave a positive effect on Toyota’s supply chain, like the Futaba Industrial UK, that makes sub-assemblies for vehicles built at Burnaston.

The plant is making vehicles for the rest of mainland Europe too, with 85 percent of its output being exported overseas.
