With the Hybrid-R concept teased earlier and the fact that it will use racing technology, we assumed that the new powertrain will be housed by a Toyota GT 86 model or maybe a Lexus. But we were a bit wrong...
Toyota has recently revealed another teaser image picturing the whole concept car that will bear the Hybrid-R drivetrain and it is an alienated Yaris, as you can see.

This three-door Toyota Yaris Hybrid-R Concept will use a 1.6-liter Global Race Engine paired with two electric motors, a setup that will be translated into an all-wheel-drive system. The combined powerplants are said to generate over 400 bhp (298 kW).

The setup will also have a race-inspired energy recovery system and a dual mode control that allows the vehicle’s performance to suit both road and track conditions.

However, Toyota says that this technology is more “suitable for use in a sports car” so it may not be long until we’ll see it on the GT 86 or the upcoming Toyota Supra’s replacement.
