Toyota Hilux Gets Pandem Widebody Kit, Looks Like a Race Truck

The Japanese tuning culture might have spread across the world, not least with the help of the world wide web, but some of the developments that come from that part of the world still see many aficionados scratching their heads. Let's take this Toyota Hilux with a Pandem body kit, for instance.

This development comes from Kei Miura, the name behind the famous Rocket Bunny package, who is also responsible for the Tra-Kyoto label. Much to nobody's surpside, the aficionado is big in Japan - for instance, he got to develop a fat-body kit for the new Mk V Supra before the official debut of the sportscar.

Of course, you'd expect to see those riveted-on fenders on a sportscar rather than a pickup truck. However, I'll remind you that the Hilux isn't the first workhorse to have been gifted with such aero bits. For instance, here's a Pandem widebody package adorning a Ford F-150, which has been brought just as close to the ground as the Japanese pickup that brought us here.

Now, the application we have here makes things even more odd, since it features a gigantic ground clearance reduction. Then again, we have to keep in mind this has nothing to do with the kit itself, which could very well be mounted on a lifted truck to keep that mud from splashing everywhere.

The list of goodies seems to include the said fenders, the front and rear aprons, as well as a skid plate and a bull bar to protect the front section of the vehicle.

In my book, this package seems to go well with the factory lines of the Toyota workhorse, even though the newfound personality of the pickup truck certainly isn't for everybody. Nevertheless, whether you adore this kind of idiosincracy or would rather have the stock vehicle, you have to admit this aftermarket kit can't be ignored.
