The Australasian New Car Assessment Programme (ANCAP) has recently tested the 2013 Toyota Hilux models, awarding them five-stars crash results.
However, the rating applies only for single cab and extra cab all-wheel-drive models. Dual cab versions have not been tested, so they remain at heir old 4-star rating.

In the offset crash test, driver chest protection was marginal and leg protection was “acceptable”. Front passenger chest protection was “acceptable” too, while head protection for the side pole impact was rated “good.”

The 2013 Toyota Hilux features dual front airbags, side chest and side head airbags as standard, Antilock Brakes Program (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC). It also features seatbelt reminders and all seats are fitted with three-point seatbelts.
