If you’re planning on spending your savings on a Toyota GT86 convertible, than it’s time to start looking for another droptop sportscar. Unless you’re not willing to wait for at least a couple more years, because the cabriolet version of the GT86 won’t see the light of day before 2015.
This piece of information comes via What Car?, who reports that “the car has now been delayed indefinitely, with no place in Toyota’s product plan in either 2014 or 2015”. According to the same source, the project could be fast-tracked if the Japanese decide to go on with it at a later date.
Even though the Toyota FT-86 Open concept was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, a production version based on the study was never officially confirmed. However, company insiders revealed the Toyota-Subaru sportscar was developed with a convertible version in mind as well.
