When it comes to Japanese sports cars, it's easy to step the customization line from the neat upgrade to a ricer-grade bucket of bolts. Tuning a JDM product is like walking on a tightrope. Since the Toyota GT86 and its two other siblings came along in 2012, we've seen many of them brutally uglified by disrespectful owners that souped them without paying attention to the atrocity of the finished tuning job.
Nevermind a widebody kit, carbon hoods, a rear wing the size of a tea tray or any other aftermarket component that is virtually useless on a two-door coupe animated by a 2-liter four-banger boxer engine with 200 horsepower, 151 lb-ft (204 Nm) of torque, and low rolling resistance tires from a Prius.

An obvious improvement to the Toyota GT86, Subaru BRZ, and Scion FR-S is upgrading the antiquated headlamps and taillamps. The bland-looking HID headlights with a poor excuse of LED daytime running lights don't suffice in a day and age that sees BMW offer laser lights on the all-new 7 Series.

In this regard, Japanese company Dazz Fellows has a solution for us. For 98,200 yen (about $800 sans shipping taxes), you can give your GT86/BRZ/FR-S a refresh with the drop dead gorgeous headlamps and taillamps you can admire in the adjacent photo gallery. It's a tiny dribble of money compared to how much these clusters enhance the overall look of the cheap and cheerful boxer-engined sports car.

A headlamp consists of 8 LEDs for the blinker and 10 LEDs for the daytime running lights. On the other hand, a taillamp integrates 12 LEDs for the blinker, 12 LEDs for the brake lamp and an LED light bar for extra visual drama. $800 plus shipping tax is a steal for this kind of aesthetic upgrade, especially if you take into consideration that Dazz Fellows offers a year of warranty for their brilliant lighting solution.
