Toyota is trying to bring the fun back to the brand with the new GT 86 sports coupe. The car’s fans say its fun and exciting, plus a great addition to the range, while its critics say the engineering was done by Subaru, the architecture is old and the performance isn’t that impressive.
Even in America, the land of all things cheep, the Scion version called FR-S is as expensive as a Mustang, a Camaro and a whole bunch of hot hatches. Things are even worse in Europe, where the French have honed front-wheel drive fun to levels previously unheard of, and prices in the old wold are even higher.
If you don’t believe us, how about you the totally unreasonable €39,990 sticker placed by Toyota on the GT 86 in Holland. At the current exchange rate, that $51,000, which is more than twice the price of the Scion FR-S.
We don’t even want to tell what BMWs you can buy for that sort of money!
