For starters, shooting brakes have become really cool ever since Mercedes, Ferrari and Jaguar made some. But, no major automaker has tried making a sportscar with a big boot.

Another really good reason to take a look at the GT 86 with a big boot is because Subaru made one… sort of. At the Tokyo Motor Show last year, they brought over a concept called the "Cross Sport Design", basically a BRZ with a boot and raised suspension.

Another good reason to make a GT 86 with a boot is purely based on looks and practicality. You could take the car to Ikea and fill it with boxes of useless furniture you need to assemble, or pack an inflatable boat for the seaside.

Toyota isn't simply going to turn this very interesting rendering into a production reality on a whim. But just as the fire rises, pleading for the GT 86 Shooting Brake has to start some where.
