According to latest sale reports, Australia can be considered the world’s third largest Toyota GT 86 buyer, putting over 6,000 units on its roads since the model was launched there in June 2012.
Last 12 months sales results placed Japan at the top with 30,000 Toyota GT 86 units sold, the US followed close on second place with 21,400 and Australia got third place for 6,096 sold units. Fourth and fifth places are held by UK and Canada selling about 2,400 units each.

“Australian motorists have bought approximately eight per cent of all 86 sports cars delivered around the world since its debut last year,” Toyota Australia’s executive director sales and marketing Tony Cramb said.

Starting at AU$29,990, the GT 86 won the Australians’ hearts with its excellent ride, handling, power to weight ratio and the rear-wheel-drive transmission, a combination of attributes that every fun sportscar needs.
