Toyota GT 86 Raced Against Ford Fiesta ST by EVO

Don’t know why the Toyota GT 86 (Scion FR-S) has to be tested with FWD hatches that are packed with tens of electronic gizmos to be forced to stay on track.

And moreover, why would anyone compare them in the UK? Where the base GT 86 can be purchased for £24,996 while the Fiesta ST starts at £16,996. The test is however a bit more relevant in the US, where the gap between their prices is much more narrow: about $22,000 for the Fiesta and $24,000 for the Scion.

Even so, comparing them is like thinking to choose between going to a standup show or an opera concert. The Fiesta was built to achieve better handling aided by lots of electrics to distribute brake force on the inside wheels in a turn and such, while the GT 86 was made for fun using the good old fashion way - engine at front, mechanical differential at the back and a manual gearbox in between them. Just replace its rear tires with wider ones and it will surly beat the small tech hatch.
