As we stated earlier this year, we’re part of the group that thinks a convertible version of the Toyota GT 86 would be a very cool car and a great success. Unfortunately, we still don’t know whether or not such a vehicle will actually be launched.
The 86 Convertible has been approved and cancelled so many time that we just stopped taking reports about it seriously. But since our duty is to inform, here’s another story: Toyota’s Tatsuya Tada recently told Car Advice that the 86 Convertible wasn’t axed and that a new concept car will be unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Show in December.
This still doesn’t mean we’re going to see convertible 86s on public streets, but at least we know the Japanese are still up to something. We’ll probably have to wait for the Tokyo Auto Show to find out more about it.
