The FT-86 II coupe concept was flash-gunned by hundreds of photographers at the Geneva Auto Show last month, but it seems like Toyota’s future sports car designed in cooperation with Subaru can’t get enough of it. Toyota has released a new photo shoot of the FT-86 II, with the concept acting like a genuine supermodel, showing us all its good sides.

But before scrolling down to see the image gallery below this article, let us refresh your memory a bit and tell you more about this car that is said to “give form to the intrinsic joy of driving.”

Visual highlights of the FT-86 II include a long, low bonnet, high wings and rear-set cabin that are intended to evoke Toyota’s sports car history. “Under a design concept that Toyota's European Design Development center, ED2, has dubbed 'Functional Beauty', its bold, sweeping form has been generated entirely through the constraints of function, and aerodynamics developed from F1 technology,” the automaker says.

Featuring a long, 2,570mm wheelbase, the concept is 4,235mm long, 1,795mm wide and just 1,270mm high.

In terms of performance, the FT-86 II combines a free-revving boxer petrol engine and a 6-speed manual transmission with compact dimensions, light weight and a low center of gravity for optimum power-to-weight ratio.

“Both powertrain and driving position have been set as low and as far back as possible to optimise balance for maximum poise, high speed stability and dynamic agility. Allied to a front engine, rear-wheel drive format, this awards the FT-86 II lively, accessible performance, highly engaging, readily-exploitable dynamic abilities and maximum driving pleasure,” Toyota brags.

Sales of Toyota's new sports car to begin in 2012. But before we get to see images with the actual production model, let’s take a look at what the concept has to offer.
