The recently published 2013 Toyota North American environmental report tells a lot about the brand’s focus on people, plants and planet; efforts made in order to assure a better life for everyone.
“At Toyota, we strive to minimize environmental impacts throughout the vehicle life cycle,” said Kevin Butt, regional environmental director, Toyota North America.  “Our North American companies are working together to continually improve, innovate and serve as environmental leaders in our communities.”

Here are some noteworthy efforts made by Toyota US:
  • The energy use of the company has been reduced by 22 percent per vehicle produced (since FY2002)
  • Ten Toyota North America plants achieved zero wast to landfill
  • Since 2002, Toyota’s parts and accessories returnable container program saved over 308 million pounds of wood and 185 million pounds of cardboard. This traduces in around 2.5 million trees saved.
  • Toyota and Lexus exceeded sales of 2 million hybrid vehicles in the US and more than 5 million hybrids worldwide, sparing the environment of over 34 million tons of CO2 emissions.
