Toyota FJ Cruiser to Be Discontinued After 2014

Earlier reports were telling us that Toyota won’t give up on body-on-frame trucks and SUVs too soon. However, the FJ Cruiser made an exception and was under consideration to get axed in the near future.

The confirmation comes from Toyota Fleet’s webpage, where the automaker is accepting orders for the 2014 model year FJ Cruiser until June 10, 2014. Combining the fact that Toyota was planning to ditch the retro-SUV and its limited order availability, it seems that the 2014 FJ Cruiser might be the last model we will get.

The retro-styled Toyota FJ Cruiser is the modern successor of the original FJ 40 Land Cruiser produced between 1960 - 1984. The modern version was introduced in 2006 and got minor updates year-over-year.

Now, the 2013 model is powered by a 4-liter V6 engine available with either a five-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission. Standard features include a two-tone exterior color, mud guards, lift-up glass hatch, skid plates, air conditioning with separate rear vents, water-resistant fabric trimming, heavy-duty flooring and rear deck, auto-dimming rearview mirror and more.
