Toyota EV P002 Headed for Pikes Peak

The Koln-based division of Toyota, Toyota Motorsport GmbH (TMG) has been responsible for the Japanese automaker’s F1, WRC and LeMans racing efforts, and it has been involved with Toyota and motorsport for over 40 years.
Now, they are preparing the TMZ EV P002, a Radical-based racing car which has a total output of 476 hp and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) from its two electric motors. These rather powerful electric motors draw power from a 42kWh lithium-ceramic battery pack.

The car is essentially an updated version of the TMZ EV P001, with the key improvement over the old car being a hike in power and torque, by 95 hp and 100 Nm (74 lb-ft) of torque, thus enabling the car to reach a top speed of 240 km/h (149 mph).

It is set to debut at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb event exactly one month from today, on July 8th and it will be driven by Japanese rally driver Fumio Nutahara.
