To stay competitive, every manufacturer has to evolve along with its direct competition. Toyota, which is a gigantic company spread all around the world, knows it very well. Thus, the Japanese manufacturer turned its focus on models it sells in Europe. Changes for model year 2017 aren’t grand, but they’ll help in the long run.
The Yaris subcompact hatchback, which is built in Valenciennes, France, is now available in Tokyo Red. The new paint finish applies to monotone and bi-tone versions of the Yaris. The latter adds a black wrap-around finish to the upper front wing, hood edge, side mirrors, A-pillars, and roof. Of course, the Yaris continues to be available as a hybrid model in 2017. Approximately 40 percent of all European sales of the Yaris consist of the eco-friendly Hybrid.

In the compact segment, the Auris hatchback and wagon are selling even better in hybrid form (60 percent of sales). Both body styles gain the Tokyo Red hue, plus machine faced 17-inch alloy wheels, sports seats, and black Alcantara upholstery. Another addition is Toyota Safety Sense, which now comes as standard. The suite adds goodies such as Road Sign Assist, Automatic High Beam, Lane Departure Alert, and Pre-Collision System.

The Verso, meanwhile, is a compact multi-purpose vehicle that’s been around since 2009. Yup, that old. This model year update sees the aging Verso gain high-quality upholstery for mid-range models, with red thread and backrests embossed with a red patch. Similar to the Auris, the Verso is also available with newly designed 17-inch alloys with a machined face finish.

Last, but not least, the Avensis. As you might have read on autoevolution a little while back, the Avensis finds itself between a rock and a hard place because sales are plummeting in the mid-size sedan segment. Be that as it may, Toyota decided to up the visual ante with Tokyo Red paint and 18-inch machined face wheels. With seriously good rivals that include the Mazda6 and Ford Mondeo, I believe the 2017 Toyota Avensis could do better than that.

All models presented above are now available to order.
