Toyota Etios Liva Comes in April

The hatchback's got a name... Soon after the introduction of the Etios model on the Indian market, Japanese manufacturer Toyota is already planning ahead and has announced a few details surrounding the hatchback version of the new model.

Dubbed Liva, the new Etios will be released on the local market next year, in April. Powered by a smaller engine than its sedan sibling, a 1.2l unit which will also be introduced on the sedan version, the Liva will be a weapon with the help of which Toyota plans to take hold of a 10 percent slice of the Indian market pie.

"The launch of Etios sedan will be followed by the hatchback model called Etios Liva. By the end of March next year or April beginning we will launch the car and deliveries will start from April,"
Toyota India Deputy Managing Director for Marketing Sandeep Singh was quoted as saying by Business Standard.

Launched on the market on December 1, the Etios is the result of several years' hard work from some 2,000 Toyota engineers, if we are to judge by what the manufacturer is saying. The car has been introduced onto the market with a 1.5l petrol engine which develops 90 ps and 132Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm.

The Etios is equipped with a steering wheel with integrated audio controls, Electronic Power Steering (EPS) with tilt function, SRS airbags and Anti-Lock Breaking System (ABS) with EBD. Most of those components, about 70 percent of them, are built locally by Toyota, except for the engine and the transmission.
