The Toyota Emirates Drifting Team led by the UAE drifting champion Ahmed Al Ameri was present at the Emirates Motorplex in Um Al Quwain for the first round of the Drift UAE Championship recently.
And they are racing one of the craziest Toyota GT 86 around. Not necessarily because it looks sick with that Rocket Bunny wide body kit and livery, but because of what’s under the hood too.

Yep, the 2-liter four-cylinder boxer engine was dropped in favor of a bigger 3-liter 2JZ six-cylinder from the mighty Toyota Supra, wearing some mods of course to boost its output.

The car also has a rollcage, stripped out interior, racing seats and instrumentation, sport adjustable suspension, wider wheels, a huge wing at the back and some other mods that makes it one of the best drifting cars around. Its 50-50 weight distribution is also a major contributing factor, but I guess that’s a bit altered now due to the bigger engine upfront.

However, drift cars need to break the rear grip faster than normal cars, so less wight at the back should be good. But then, why do they installed that huge wing? Seems totally pointless, since you really don’t need downforce for drifting.
