Ever since Toyota presented the Etios sedan, the carmaker has also stepped in front of the media to state that buyers should expect more from the hatchback version that would be called Liva. The car was expected to see daylight in the first months of this year but, as the company struggles to meet demand for the sedan, it could delay the hatchback's debut by a few months.
The fact that the Japanese manufacturer can't cope with the growing demand for the affordable sedan is not a new thing, as customers have to wait up to eight months to receive their model, even if they have already made a deposit. Some of the buyers have even canceled their orders, choosing to get their money back rather than wait such a long time for Toyota's Etios.
In the context, starting production of the Liva hatchback would only make things worse for the Japanese car manufacture, as Toyota will have to split production of the sedan into two separate lines, one for the regular Etios and the other one for the hatchback.
The company is yet to confirm or deny the information, but we will most likely find out more on the subject as time passes by.
Toyota was initially believed to release the Etios Liva this April, while the Etios sedan went on sale in December. A diesel version of the sedan, that could also make its way to the hatchback, is also scheduled to go on sale in the last month of this year so, if things prove to be true, expect the Liva to see daylight by year end.
