Toyota Crown Wearing Land Cruiser 200 Mask Is the Executive Sedan Toyota Needs Right Now

The Toyota Crown receives an SUV-ish flavor but don't think about an all-wheel drive system and a jacked-up suspension, because changes only affect the visual department. That is, in a good way.

As a matter of fact, the Crown is 60 years old now, and for its entire career, government officials, police, and prominent figures used the sedan as means of transportation, but it also carried out taxicab duties in Singapore, for example.

The reason we're telling you all this is a couple of renderings delivered by our old friend Theophilus Chin. However, the two digitally rendered images have a twist of their own: the Crown received a facelift based on a recently-revealed Toyota model.

We're talking about the Land Cruiser 200, bound to be sold on the Japanese market. One of the SUVs highlights was the new grille with three horizontal bars framed by oversized headlights with LED technology.

That's exactly what the designer took from the Land Cruiser 200 and applied on the Toyota Crown, with the result being visible in the photos you can see in the gallery below.

The resulting car seems ready (and able, at the same time) to break down a couple of walls, thanks to the beefy front end. But more important, it doesn't look as bad as we expected. If you want our personal take on it, the Crown as imagined in Pixel Land resembles a rhino without a horn. Sure, that's subjective, and you're free to tell us what the renderings look like to you.

It's also interesting that the pixel manipulator chose the Crown. The sedan is an outstanding feat in Toyota's history: it managed to become the first Japanese car exported to the United States in 1958 and the first Toyota to be sold in Africa in 1957, although it didn't make a splash after its European introduction.
