Toyota Motor Corporation just announced that cumulative global sale of its hybrid vehicles topped the 6 million mark as of December 31st, 2013, reaching 6.072 million units. This comes after only nine months after the Japanese automaker announced that the 5 million mark has been reached in March 2013.
The automaker calculates that as of December 31, 2013, its hybrid vehicles have resulted in around 41 million fewer tons of CO2 emissions, which can also translates into about 15 million kilometers done on electricity.

Currently, Toyota sells 24 hybrid passenger vehicles and a plug-in hybrid model in about 80 countries and regions around the globe. Moreover, within the next two years, Toyota will launch 15 more new hybrid vehicles, including the Harrier and Highlander Hybrids.
