We don’t know why, but for some reason Toyota’s marketing teams have been let loose to do whatever they want. The latest ads for the Prius C are a bit crazy around the edges, and so is this short commercial for the Corolla with Toyota Care.
Not only is the protagonist in the video stroking the Corolla like its a handsome steed (yes, that’s a Shrek reference), but seeing somebody drive a simple Toyota sedan in leather chaps is disturbing. There’s also the fact that a couple of cowboys are ogling the car’s “hindquarters”.
The Corolla received a major refresh two years ago, and in 2011 it got extra content. Now the Corolla L packs powered side mirrors, power windows, power door locks and no extra power. The higher grade LE has all this plus standard 16-inch wheels and steering wheel audio controls. As for the Corolla S, this adds double-stitch accents for the seats.
The LE and S levels also get a new audio system which combines AM/FM/CD player with MP3/WMA playback, while also adding USB connectivity and an extra jack for portable music players.
