Toyota Continues Wireless Recharging Development

Since we’re seeing more and more electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids it was only natural to have automobile makers think of a new wireless battery charging system.

This is the case of Toyota and their idea of bringing a new kind of technology that will allow EV and PHEV drivers to actually recharge their batteries in a more effective and simple way. It appears that the company continued with their wireless technology idea and things are starting to shape up.

So, they plan on having the vehicle recharge by parking in alignment with a coil set into the surface of the ground with no cables involved. Thus, Toyota’s system will transmit electricity using magnetic resonance created by changes in magnetic field intensity between a transmitting coil in the ground and a receiving coil in the car.

We must say that the whole thing sounds pretty good and will definitely make a difference for PHEV and EV owners. To make things even easier, the company also added a function to its Intelligent Parking Assist system that shows the position of the transmitting coil in a parking space.

It appears that Toyota has really thought things true and we can only hope the company will make the system work and bring us something new.
