Toyota NASCAR driver Kyle Busch claimed his thirteenth career pole position, lapping the track at Daytona International Speedway in just 46.458 seconds and a speed of 193.723 mph (311.767 km/h).
In fact, the top three was held by Toyota drivers after the qualification rounds, Kyle being closely followed by Matt Kenseth with 46.550 and Clint Bowyer at 46.594.
Matt Kenseth led the first lap, after which Busch came and held the first position for the next 30 laps. It was only lap 24 when Paul Menard blew its engine and Jimmie Johnson took the lead on the restart at lap 32, while Busch started to drift back in the outside line, leaving Clint Bowyer and Michael Waltrip taking the last positions in top 5.
