Building up in the success of the GT4 ST 165, the Celica Turbo 4WD ST 185 lived to be Toyota’s representative in its three-year service in WRC, managing to achieve the manufacturer’s crown in 1993 and 1994.
Comparing it with the older ST 165, the ST 185 had a stiffer body, improved cooling, upgraded turbo, a 6-speed XTrack transmissin and a much improved suspension system that allowed a wide variation of adjustability.
The one here on sale is a 1993 built version for the tough Safari Rally and was driven by six-time Kenyan rally champion Ian Duncan with co-pilot Ian Munro. The rally car switched multiple owners and is now offered at a whopping £125,000. Probably the most expensive Toyota Celica ever sold.
