Dubai - the capital of sun and supercars. What could you want more? Even the cops there have supercars to chase down speeders. It’s almost like Need For Speed.
However, the backbone of the city is still held by normal, sane cars like the Toyota Camry, which is extensively used by taxi companies. But they all come with automatic transmissions and most drivers are planting their foot on the gas to stick with the traffic and quickly get their clients to the destination. Thing that is not too compatible with fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

In order to reduce the impact and the carbon emissions print, UAE Toyota dealer Al-Futtaim Motors signed a deal with Dubai RTA-franchise Cars Taxi to provide them with a fleet of Toyota Camry Hybrid sedans to be used as taxis.

Cars Taxi is now the first private company in UAE to have a hybrid taxi fleet, 28 vehicles to be exact. Before this, Al-Futtaim provided Dubai Taxi Corporation with 20 hybrid Camry sedans that performed a 33 percent improvement in fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions so far. This translates into a Dhs 12,000 economy per vehicle.

The Toyota Camry Hybrid comes with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine mated to an electric motor, totaling 200 hp and achieving around 43 mpg in the city. Combine that with a spacious comfortable interior, reliability and you can see why it’s such a good fleet car.
