Toyota Camry Hybrid Malaysia Local Assembly Under Consideration

The recent launch of the 2013 Lexus ES is not the only news we get from Malaysia. Word is that UMW Toyota is mulling the idea of locally assemble the Toyota Camry Hybrid in the near future.
The announcement was made by the company’s deputy chairman Takashi Hibi, adding that the hybrid Camry could be just a little more pricier than the current gasoline powered one.

Starting with 2010, the number of hybrid vehicles sold in Malaysia jumped from 332 to 8,571 in the last seven moths of 2013. Sales have been aided by the government incentives applied to hybrids and small capacity fuel-efficient new vehicles, which may be applied to the Camry Hybrid soon despite its over 2-liters cubic capacity engine.
