With April Fools’s Day pretty far on the horizon in the calendar, Toyota is teaching us something we would like to see more from all carmakers these days: the art of letting your hair down and adding a smile to the mix while you’re at it. In that respect, meet the ticklish Yaris, probably one of the world’s funniest cars.
Whether you’re a Toyota fan or just a hater, this laughing Yaris will most likely make your day in no time. Call it crazy, but this ha-ha-hatchback is on a mission to raise $1 million for Red Nose Day by giving mirth and chortles instead of miles per gallon and carbon dioxide emissions.

For that to be successfully achieved, Toyota engineers made sure that the giggling Yaris reacts when someone tickles its tender spots, of course, in its own language. That is, by lighting up and flashing its headlights and indicators, spraying water from its windscreen washer fluid spouts and waggling its side mirrors like it was chuckling and laughing.

In case you’re confused about how one should approach the giggling Yaris, just have a quick look at its number plates and the TICK LME message quickly becomes a straightforward hint. But be prepared to be even more entertained, as Red Nose Day legend Lenny Henry shared his own distinctive laugh with the red Yaris.

“Project Chuckles”, as the one-off Toyota Yaris started its noble quest, will stick to a busy schedule of appearances around UK at Red Nose Day fundraising event held in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow.

As further proof that the giggling Yaris is all about fun, Toyota released a short mockumentary video which reveals the history behind its creation. So, if you ever thought that being funny is easy, you should see how a bunch of corporate wannabe comedians struggled to do that.
