Looks like Toyota has another surprise in store for us at the Tokyo Motor Show this year. Among the world premier concepts we saw earlier, Toyota will also bring two more concepts derived from the Aqua (Prius c) model - the Aqua Cross and Aqua Air.
We don’t know much about the Cross model but this rendering that surfaced the internet tells us something about the Aqua Air model.
The Air concept hints at a future roadster version of the Aqua model, measuring 3,990 mm (157 in) in length, 1,690 mm (66.5 in) wide and 1,440 mm (56.7 in) in height, which ranks it as a B segment cabrio. The car looks certainly sleeker than the G Sports model, with more smooth-flowing shapes and eye-candy features like the rounded trapezoidal front grille and prolonged headlamps with L-shaped daytime running lights.
Powering the Aqua Air concept is the same powertrain borrowed from the Aqua G Sports, made of a 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle petrol engine mated to an e-CVT, totaling 100 hp and an average fuel economy of 35.4 km/liter according to the Japanese JC08 cycle (2.8 l/100 km or 83.2 mpg US).
