Latest reports show that Toyota will increase its manufacturing investment in Alabama, Missouri and Tennessee plants to produce more engines.
The Alabama engine plant together with Bodine Aluminum casting plants will receive a combined $200 million investment from Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc (TEMA), in order to boost their machining capacity and parts production for V6 engines.
“Today’s investment of $200 million into three separate Toyota facilities demonstrates Toyota’s commitment to North America and our localization efforts,” said Osamu “Simon” Nagata, president and CEO of TEMA. ”Our commitment to our local communities where we produce engines, engine parts and vehicles has never been stronger thanks to our team members and their continued focus on safety, quality and continuous improvement.”
This investment is part of the over $2 billion accoutrement Toyota did in the US over the last two years. About 125 more employees will be contracted to increase the annual engine capacity to approximately 750,000 units.
