The latest spy-shots showing the Toyota Avensis under heavy camouflage failed to shed any light on a simple matter: should we expect the new Avensis or Toyota is just working on a second facelift for the popular Japanese playing in the European D-segment league? Thankfully, the fast approach of the Geneva Motor Show cleared the air for us.
Toyota just released two official pictures showing the facelifted Avensis sedan and wagon ahead of their debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. That being said, you must know that Toyota is also winning the globalization game with the Avensis, while making it look easy in the process. How is that possible?

Well, you probably know by now that the family car is being produced in Derbyshire, United Kingdom. However, for Avensis’ second facelift, Toyota decided to assign the styling-related tasks to its Design Studio ED2 in South-East France, probably for a more relaxed and mild, mediterranean approach on design.

But wait, there’s more. The development for the Avensis facelift was carried out by Toyota within its R&D center located in Belgium, so there you have it. At a first glance, the refreshed Toyota Avensis is keeping that front grille looking like the car is ready to eat everything in front of it, but we’ll have to agree that its personality is starting to wash-off the “shoe box” and “vacuum cleaner” reputation.

In addition, Toyota announced that the Avensis facelift will benefit from upgraded comfort and safety equipment plus a new range of engines bound to favor both performance and efficiency, but we’ll know more after Toyota holds its press conference on March 3 at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
