Toyota Avalon Gets New Homelink

Japanese manufacturer Toyota announced yesterday the availability of a new HomeLink system on the Avalon model. As you know, HomeLink is the system with which owners can control their garage doors, a feature available on several Toyota models.

The new system, which can work with just about every automated garage systems, can be programmed without the use of the owners' manual, thanks to the upgrades brought by Toyota. Whereas in previous models the owners had to refer to the manual before programming the system, that operation can now by done by using a single button.

Thanks to the integration of the system into the rearview mirror, a small LCD display will guide the owners through the required steps. If the guidance system is not being used for 15 seconds, it will automatically turn itself off in order to keep the mirror clear.

“The HomeLink universal garage door opener is a handy convenience feature that allows the user to program it to operate up to three garage doors, or power gates – using the HomeLink system buttons located in the vehicle,” says Toyota.

“Owners who use this system will no longer need to carry remotes for each power door in the vehicle.“

The new Avalon, presented at the Chicago Auto Show earlier this year, is available in two grades, Avalon and Limited, both equipped with leather-trimmed power driver’s seats, back-up camera, dual zone automatic climate control with air filtration, moonroof and 17-inch alloy wheels. Limited will add rain-sensing wipers, Smart Key and cooled leather seats.
