Along with Toyota’s 50th anniversary in Australia, the automaker has achieved another manufacturing milestone, recently reaching its two-millionth locally built car for the market.
The 75-hectare site located in Altona, Victoria, currently produces the Camry, Camry Hybrid and Aurion sedans, as well as four-cylinder gasoline and hybrid engines.

The Camry model is the country’s best-selling mid-size car, with its production started in 1987. The first V6 Aurion took off the assembly line in 2006, while the Camry Hybrid entered production in 2009, also marking the first and only hybrid car made in Australia.

Toyota Australia also scored its one millionth vehicle exported to the Middle East this September. The plant exports about 70 percent of its production, translating in approximately 70,000 units per year.
