Toyota Australia will reportedly gain a AU$ 30 million Federal funding to secure the production until 2017.
Not only that the funds will allow the Altona plant to begin the production of the Toyota Camry in 2015, but it will also secure 2,500 jobs until 2017.

The currently exported Camry model is a strong seller in Australia, the base Altise model spec starting at AU$ 30,500. It is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder unit that provides 133 kW (178 hp) and 231 Nm of torque. Standard equipment includes body colored exterior door handles, textile upholstery, air conditioning with separate rear air outlets, power windows, electric power steering with fully adjustable steering wheel, cruise control, automatic headlights, 6-speaker audio system with MP3 compatibility and steering wheel controls and more.

Toyota exports more than 70% of its cars sold in Australia currently and loses about AU$ 2,500 for each unit due to the strength of the Australian dollar.
