Toyota Aqua / Prius C Gets TRD Sport Package [Image Gallery]

We’ve been huddling round the Xbox for a couple of days now, and while playing Gran Turismo 5 with a bunch of youngsters, we found out they really love the idea of a hybrid racer, since they all had Prius models configured to out-sprint the Veyron. Moral of the story - tuned hybrids and EVs are really hot because they are underdogs.

Toyota's TRD racing and performance division announced a bunch of upgrades for the brand new Aqua / Prius C, which made its official debut at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show. These start with a body kit that adds a new front apron with optional LED running lights, side skirts, a roof spoiler and a diffuser-look rear spoiler. Add this to the sports exhaust, racy wheels and upgraded suspension.

Inside, the only touch is a cool little TRD starter button in bright red. We’ll remind you that the combined max output of the 1.5-liter hybrid powertrain is only 100 horsepower.
