With Honda and Nissan already having their China only brands up and running, Toyota, a manufacturer who has so many sub-brands in Japan that it is highly probable that they themselves don`t know all of them, wants in on the act. They have announced that they will be launching two China-only brands, next year, according to a statement made by a high-ranking executive, on Thursday.
The plan is to make the new cars through their existing joint ventures, with local manufacturers FAW Group and Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., yet it is unspecified which of them will begin production first. Toyota are undoubtedly scared by Nissan’s announcement of an all-electric car available exclusively in China, as they are still touted as the world leaders in the field of ‘green’ cars- well, mostly hybrids, yet they will probably want to stamp the idea in early on, as they did in America, where their cars are now highly appreciated.

Nissan has already launched two cars under its Venucia brand, through its own Chinese joint venture, with Dongfeng Motor - they are aiming at the ‘budget’ side of the market with these two cars, though.
