Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) and Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. just announced the starting the exports of a compact vehicle based on the Toyota Agya from Indonesia to Philippines, with sales starting at the end of this month.
The Agya-based compact will be sold in the Philippines under the Toyota brand and its initial export volume was planned at about 500 units per month.
“We are confident that Philippine consumers will be satisfied with this environment-friendly and affordable compact car. By being the first to export a Low Cost Green Car2 vehicle, we are very pleased to contribute to the Indonesian automobile industry through the advancement of vehicle exports.” said Daihatsu executive vice president Tatsuya Kaneko at the export ceremony today.
As TMC managing officer Hiroyuki Fukui said at the same ceremony, “Toyota and Daihatsu consider Indonesia a vital global manufacturing and supply base,” with more than 138,000 CBU vehicles exported from there in 2013.
